New: PFAS-free coating with excellent nonstick properties

In a world where sustainability is increasingly higher on the agenda, attention to environmentally responsible production processes is also increasing. At Kersten coating technology, we are therefore actively taking steps towards a greener future with PFAS-free coatings.

What is PFAS?

An important topic within the coatings industry is the use of PFAS in coatings. PFAS (an abbreviation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) includes a list of more than 9,000 chemical compounds, which are or can be harmful to a greater or lesser extent.

Restrictions

At the international government level, the possibilities of restricting the use of the harmful substances are currently being examined. There are currently no restrictions, but it looks like they are coming. As a result, there is already increasing demand for coatings without PFAS.

Ahead of developments

As a certified coater, we are in a privileged position because we are involved in the development of (new) coatings right from the early stages. Our team of experts collaborates with renowned coating raw material suppliers, giving us direct influence on the design of future coating technologies.

As an alternative to the often PFAS-containing PTFE coatings, we can now also offer a PFAS-free coating. This coating – apart from excellent nonstick properties – also has a high hardness. This makes this coating highly scratch and wear resistant, making it excellent for use in the food industry.
