RÄDLINGER – PRIMUS LINE
The German company Rädlinger developed the Primus Line system. The technology behind this system enables trenchless rehabilitation of pressure pipes. With this technique, damaged pipes are repaired without affecting traffic (due to road closures) or residents (due to noise pollution), for example. There is also less risk of subsidence and air pollution is avoided.
Demand
The Primus Line system consists of a flexible liner reinforced with aramid fibres and specially developed connectors. These steel connectors connect the liner, which is pulled into the existing pipe during trenchless pipe renovation, to the pipe network. This connection has to be leak-free, durable and tight, as the pipes transport sensitive liquids such as drinking water, gas or oil.
Rädlinger approached Kersten coating technology to coat the connectors.
Approach
Because the Primus Line technique is frequently used, connectors are regularly coated at Kersten coating technology. This takes place on location in Kahla. We provide the connectors with a very special epoxy powder coating. This coating is applied by electrostatic powder spraying. Each job involves coating several connectors of one size, which Rädlinger then stores for future projects. Such a batch contains four to 40 pieces.
Result
The epoxy powder coating gives the connectors durable corrosion resistance. As a result, the connectors meet the highest standards for the safe transport of liquids, especially in the drinking water sector.
How does Rädlinger experience the cooperation?
Thomas Häring, department head of work preparation at Rädlinger: ‘Kersten coating technology is a reliable and professional partner. All promised delivery times have been met so far and we are very pleased with the quality. For Primus Line, this means that we can plan our own delivery times well and stick to them. Thanks to the very good cooperation, our own work becomes easier.’
