KIWA certification for our Kahla site: one standard for maximum security
The European water market is in full swing. Both the Netherlands and Germany are working hard to increase water capacity. The reliability of systems and products is essential for this. Kersten coating technology has taken an important step in this respect: our facility in Kahla (Germany) recently became officially KIWA-certified. That means one quality standard for both production sites. And more certainty for our clients. Read more!
One quality level, two locations
For many years, Kersten Kunststoffcoating GmbH in Germany had been working according to the same quality system as our headquarters in Brummen. Formal certification was therefore a logical next step. By obtaining KIWA certification, Kahla now also demonstrably meets the highest quality standards for coating applications in the drinking water sector.
For customers, this means: more certainty. Whether a project is carried out in Brummen or Kahla, the quality and reliability are identical. Moreover, Kahla now acts as a fully-fledged back-up location. In the unlikely event of a temporary halt in production in Brummen, processes can be continued in Germany without delay. This way, we guarantee continuity.
European regulations force harmonisation
Kahla’s certification is also a strategic choice with a view to the future. From 1 January 2027, the Recast European Drinking Water Directive (EU 2020/2184) comes into force. This new legislation ensures that drinking water products approved in one EU member state will also be accepted in other member states. With a KIWA certificate, Kersten is therefore prepared for a uniform European system, which means less bureaucracy and lower costs for clients.
What this means for our clients
With KIWA certification in Kahla, Kersten coating technology offers clients in the drinking water sector a number of important benefits:
- Reliability and quality assurance, regardless of the location of production
- Faster delivery times thanks to flexible deployment of two certified sites
- Prepared for future European legislation, so less paperwork and faster approval
- Fewer risks, as production processes are secured across two sites
This development underlines our ambition to not only be a specialist in technical coatings, but also a strategic partner for the water market. Now and in the future.
Ready for the future of water technology
Whether it’s coatings that protect metals against aggressive chemicals, or coating pipes for drinking water, Kersten is all about reliability, sustainability and innovation. The KIWA certification of Kahla reaffirms that we remain at the forefront of the industry.
